Two Nigerian Airmen Survive Plane Crash

The two occupants of a Nigerian Airforce training aircraft, an L-39 jet which crasjed near Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, are said to be under close observation at the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital.

According to sources, the L-39 training jet which took off originally from Kano was said to have crashed on Tuesday while on routine training flight from Calabar to Uyo.

No casualties were recorded. The Nigerian Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar, reportedly spoke with the two survivors, a trainee pilot and his instructor. The two occupants had had successfully ejected before the plane crashed and went up in flames.
