The Federal Government’s decision to engage a United States-based lobby firm on alleged Christian genocide has been described as a calculated investment in the country’s long-term security, stability, and global credibility.
The Coalition in Defence of Nigeria (CDN) in a statement stressed that lobby is legal and widely used in diplomacy.
The group in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Isa Shehu stressed that the country faces complex security challenges ranging from terrorism and insurgency to banditry, kidnapping, and organized crime which are not confined within the nation’s borders but are transnational in nature, often linked to global networks of arms trafficking, extremist financing, and cyber-enabled crime.
“By engaging a reputable US firm, Nigeria is positioning itself to strengthen international partnerships, secure greater cooperation from global allies in intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism strategies, and technical assistance as well as amplify the country’s voice abroad,” the statement reads.
Shehu further stated that it would ensure that Nigeria’s security concerns are heard and prioritized in Washington and other global capitals where policy decisions are made, while reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting lives and livelihoods, ensuring that communities across Nigeria can thrive in peace.
According to the CDN, the fight against insecurity cannot be won by government alone, but “requires the collective will of civil society, the private sector, political leaders, and ordinary citizens.
“This contract is a tool to strengthen Nigeria’s hand internationally, but its success depends on unity at home. Every Nigerian has a stake in this effort—whether through safeguarding education, protecting businesses, or ensuring safe communities.
“The CDN calls on all Nigerians to rally behind this initiative. Supporting the government’s decision is not about politics; it is about survival, progress, and national resilience.
“Insecurity affects every family, every community, and every sector of our economy. By backing this international engagement, we are collectively investing in a safer, stronger Nigeria.”
The Coalition in Defence of Nigeria stands firmly behind this initiative and urges all Nigerians to lend their voices and support to the fight against insecurity.
