UATH TASKS CONSULTANTS ON GOOD CONDUCT/ETHICS OF MEDICAL PRACTICES

The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, FCT, has called on Consultants working in the hospital to imbibe good conduct and adhere to the ethics of medical practices to help promote service delivery and achieve the desired goals for the year 2024.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Bissallah Ekele, who made the call during the UATH management meeting with the consultants, said the meeting was aimed at harmonising updates on the progress in the hospital and to set goals for the year.

Ekele, in his presentation highlighted the expectations for 2024 to include; the Remedial Training for Foreign trained doctors (MDCN), upgrade and expand the electronic medical records, expansion of sub-specislist clinics (at least twice a week), accreditation of more sub-specialities.

Continue human capital development (specifics vs general), complete renovation of the Paediatrics Medical Ward, consultants office block 2 to be completed and occupied, get CT scan & MR machines, furnish ENT Mental Health Wards, complete the interns and call duty blocks and to start Tissue typing and Endourology services.

The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) Dr. Bob Ukonu, in his presentation highlighted the expectations and previous achievements of 2023 to include; Operating microscope for Neorosurgery, New C-arm for Orthopaedic, back up gastroscope for G-Unit, OCT machine for opthalmology, endoscopy accessories, basic IVF equipment, PPP for CT services and new 850KVA generator procured among others.

Dr. Mrs. Otokpa, who spoke on behalf of other consultants, thanked the CMD for his presentation and called on other consultants to exhibit good conduct and adhere to the ethics of medical practices for the development of health sector in the country.
