SOUTH AFRICAN Andries Sibiya will languish in the country’s jail for the rest of his life for deceptively exploiting the Christian gospel to gain carnal knowledge of his own daughter, following his Friday sentencing to life in jail by a magistrates’ court.
He was arraigned to court on a nine-count charge of rape. The sentencing comes after the court heard that Sibiya started sleeping with his daughter from the age of thirteen and that she gave birth to three children for him.
“You shamelessly used the Bible and selected verses of the Old Testament to justify your actions and to intimidate your daughter
and wife into submission,’’ the magistrate said.
The magistrate while sentencing Sibiya said he even went so far as to pay his wife, bride price to be able to live with his daughter
as his wife.
Sibiya was known as the wheelchair rapist as he insisted on appearing in court in a wheelchair, even though he was able to
walk.
Sibiya was described by the court as a domineering person who manipulated his family and instilled fear in them and over a
period of nine years had sex with his daughter two to three times a week.
