Y55 Assembly inauguration Set to Hold on 30th June 2023 

The Youth Model African Union has announced that the official inauguration of Y55 Assembly, will hold on 30th June 2023 at 11am WAT.

Speaking to news men in Abuja, the Convener Mr. Igweshi Augustine said that dignitaries are expected to attend inauguration including.

African Union Youth Envoy, Youth Officer at African Union Commission, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Nigeria, AU ECOSOC Nigeria, Youth Leaders

Diplomats, Ambassadors and newly crowned Miss Tourism Nigeria, Queen Ebere Joy, who is also the Head of Diplomatic Affairs of Y55 Assembly.

He explained that Y55 ASSEMBLY seeks to foster the Vision of the Founding Fathers of African Union and AU Agenda 2063 and it’s flagship programs for African development both at regional and national levels while promoting PAN Africanism amongst the youth and between the youth as well as empowering and building the leadership and diplomatic skills of the African youth as transformational leaders for African development. 

Y55 Assembly stands for Youth of the 55 member states of the African Union.

The Assembly will works to engage with African youths, the African Union, stakeholders, international organizations, and member states of the AU for the actualization of the AU Agenda 2063 and its flagship programs for African Development.

The Y55 Assembly is also structured to function both as a legislative assembly and a learning platform for African youths to gain experience in legislative proceedings, Diplomacy, Foreign Policy, Leadership and Development.

The assembly is headed by the Speaker of the assembly and Head of Commission for the administrative body. 

Members of the Assembly will perform oversight functions, draft bills and move motions on Youth Development, Peacebuilding, Education, Gender and Social Justice, Youth, Peace and Security and learn other legislative engagement to prepare them as future leaders for African development.

The Y55 Assembly is committed to promoting the African We Want and bridging the gap in actualizing the AU Agenda 2063 and its flagship programs by taking action for policy implementation which includes African Continental Framework on Youth, Peace and Security.

AU Aspiration 4, A PEACEFUL and SECURE AFRICA, African Union Youth Charter etc while speaking to the pressing challenges affecting Africa for the development of Africa 

Y55 ASSEMBLY was adopted at the Youth Model African Union 2nd Extraordinary Summit held from 24-26 November 2022 in Abuja Nigeria by delegates of member states. 

And our goal is to promote the African We Want and contribute to the actualization of AU Agenda 2063 for African development, Igweshi Augustine stated. 

He also stated that the Membership of Y55 Assembly is through participation in the Youth Model African Union Summit, which the 3rd Edition of Youth Model African Union Summit will be coming in Lagos Nigeria by November 2023.

Y55 Assembly is an offshoot of the Youth Model African Union. A landmark initiative of the Center for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development (CEPASD).
