The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Nasarawa State says the union will mobilise support for the re-election of Sen. Tanko Al-Makura (APC-Nasarawa South) to the National Assembly (NASS) in 2023.
Mr Yusuf Sarki Iya, the state NLC Chairman, said this during the official inauguration of over 200 members of Sen. Al-Makura Senatorial Campaign/Advisory Council in Lafia on Saturday.
Iya said that Al-Makura performed well as a governor and now a senator, hence the need of the union’s stance to support his re-election bid to the Red Chamber of the NASS.
“We are advocates of good governance and found good governance in APC leadership from national to the state levels.
“You have done well when you served as governor of this state for eight years, and brought another person, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, and he is also doing well.
“We will mobilise workers for you as well as mobilise, advocate and canvass for support to enable you succeed,’’ Iya said.
The NLC chairman assured of the union’s readiness to work for Al-Makura to emerge victorious in 2023 election.
On their parts, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, respresented by his Deputy Dr Emmanuel Akabe; Sen. Abubakar Sodangi, Chairman, Gov. Sule/Akabe Campaign Council; and Alhaji Aliyu Bello, the state APC Secretary, all drummed support for the senator to succeed beyond 2023.
The trio acknowledged that Al-Makura had provided infrastructure and empowered the people across the state as governor of the state and now a senator.
They also urged voters of the zone and other parts of the state to elect Al-Makura, Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, Sule for governor of the state and all other APC candidates in the 2023 general election.
Inaugurating his Campaign/Advisory Council, Al-Makura assured of continuous quality and purposeful leadership at the NASS, if re-elected.
The lawmaker said that he has done well as the representative of the people of the zone and solicited for their support and votes to enable him succeed.
“There is no local government and development area in this zone that I did not attend to with dividends of democracy; with infrastructural and other development gains.
“I will do more, if given another mandate come 2023,’’ Al-Makura assured.
He urged the people of the zone to avoid hate speeches, blackmail, lies and co-exist peacefully for development to thrive.
The senator also drummed support for Tinubu, Sule and all APC candidates to succeed in the 2023 general election.
Responding, Mr Edward Auta, the Director-General of Al-Makura Campaign Council, appreciated the senator for the confidence reposed in them.
He pledged the commitment of the council to ensure victory at the polls.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports thst the event had in attendance Mr Abdullahi Angibi (APC-Lafia Central), Mr Yakubu Azara (APC-Awe South), Alhaji Musa Dan’Azumi, the state SUBEB Chairman, former lawmakers, politicians, government functionaries and other well-wishers. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
