ABUJA – Renowned legal practitioner, publisher and humanitarian, Chief Prof. Amb. Ebosetale David Aigbefoh, Esq., has challenged Nigerians, corporate organizations, and philanthropists to deliberately invest in education and human capital development as the surest path to national growth and sustainable development.
Aigbefoh made the call on Saturday in Tungan Maje, Abuja, during the 5th Graduation and Prize-Giving Ceremony of NIMAT International Academy, where the school’s mini stadium was unveiled and named in his honour as “CHIEF PROF EBOSETALE DAVID AIGBEFOH ESQ STADIUM” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the institution.
Speaking at the event, Aigbefoh said no nation can achieve meaningful development without prioritizing quality education and the empowerment of its people.
He urged well-meaning Nigerians to complement government efforts by supporting schools through infrastructure projects, scholarships, mentorship programmes, and other initiatives that drive academic excellence.
He further appealed to the Federal Government to increase funding for education, upgrade infrastructure, and implement policies that will enhance teaching and learning nationwide.
Describing the stadium naming as “a call to greater service,” Aigbefoh expressed hope that the gesture would inspire more individuals and organizations to invest in schools and in programmes that promote the holistic development of children.
Delivering the keynote, Prof. Ichado Sunday of the Institute of Education, University of Abuja, described education as the bedrock of national development. He stressed that government alone cannot bear the burden of educating Nigerian children and called for stronger public-private collaboration.
“The government alone cannot provide all that is required for the education of our children. When private proprietors and other stakeholders complement government efforts, the sector moves in the right direction,” he said.
Prof. Sunday also noted that many private schools outperform public schools due to effective leadership and accountability, and urged that competence remain central to educational administration.
Earlier, Mr. Atuluku Yusuf CEO of NIMAT International Academy, thanked Chief Aigbefoh for his consistent support and described the stadium dedication as well-deserved recognition of his generosity.
He called on other Nigerians and corporate bodies to emulate Aigbefoh, noting that such investments are critical to producing responsible, productive and globally competitive future leaders.
Highlights of the event included graduation of pupils and students, presentation of prizes to outstanding learners, cultural performances, and goodwill messages from parents and education stakeholders.
