Management of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa is set to graduate 48,360 students at its 11th combined convocation ceremony on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Dr Hauwa Muhammad, Rector of the institution made this known at a press briefing held in Nasarawa local government area of Nasarawa state on Friday.
According to Muhammad, the 11th combined convocation ceremony covers graduates of 2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and 2024/2025 academic sessions.
“For the 2021/2022 academic session we have 5900 for National Diploma and 2050 students for Higher National Diploma; for the 2022/2023 session there are 8767 for National Diploma and 1976 for Higher National Diploma.
“As for the 2023/2024 academic session students graduating with ND are 10,158 with those graduating with HND are 3153 while for the 2024/2025 session there are 9743 students for ND and 6613 for HND.
“So in total those graduating in this combined convocation with ND are 34,568 while for HND the figure is 13782, making it a total of 48,360 students,” she said.
Muhammad added aside the students set for convocation, the institution will confer its Fellowship Award to seven distinguished Nigerians whim according to her have excelled in their various fields of endeavours.
“They are: Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, Minister of State for Education, Sen. Ahmed Wadada, (APC,Nasarawa West), Hon. Fuad Laguda, Chairman, House Committee on Federal Polytechnics and Higher Technical Education.
“Others are Honourable Justice Sidi Bage I, Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa state Council of Chiefs, Prof. Idris Bugaje, Executive Secretary, of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and Hon. Aliyu Tijani, Federal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI),” she said.
Muhammad said there will also be a convocation lecture themed “Integrating skills with emerging technologies for optimal productivity in the 21st century” to be held on Friday, June 26th to be taken by Mr Kashifu Abdullahi, Director General of National Information Technology Development (NITDA).
“Thereafter, all guests will proceed to the Muhammadu Buhari Multipurpose Hall for the Convocation/Award Dinner where some staff of the polytechnic will be recognised for awards among others,” she said.
She reiterated the council and management of the institution’s resolve to continue to work towards attaining the institutional objective and adding value to national development.
“Since our coming on board as a management, we have focused on moving the institution forward and as such, we have never relented in infrastructure and human capital development.
“We have ensured continuous restoration and sustenance of peace, stability and serenity across the polytechnic community through inclusive leadership,” she added.
She noted that one of the priorities of the institution’s management has been the expansion of academic opportunities while maintaining quality and relevance.
“In this regard, the polytechnic successfully secured approval from the NBTE for the mounting of more than 25 new programmes and these new programmes are in line with the societal needs that will surely contribute to national development.
“We equally secured approval from NBTE for the expansion of carrying capacities in several existing programmes to accommodate more qualified candidates,” she said.
She added that the polytechnic also secured approval for six additional postgraduate programmes in affiliation with Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), adding that the partnership continues to provide opportunities for higher academic attainment and professional development for graduates and staff.
Muhammad who reeled out some of the infrastructural development projects done by her management team added that the polytechnic has also entered into strategic collaboration with Ganfeng Lithium a chines company to enhance industrial training opportunities for students and staff.
“This partnership is designed to expose our students to global best practices, modern technologies and industry -driven competencies that will increase their employability and competitiveness in thr international labour market,” she said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
