The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has congratulated one of Kuje’s finest sporting ambassadors, Mr. Rilwan Idris Sabo, on his historic gold medal victory at the 2026 Commonwealth Games Para Powerlifting Competition in Glasgow, Scotland.
Mr. Sabo etched his name into the history books after producing a remarkable performance to lift an impressive 208 kilograms, securing Nigeria’s first gold medal in the men’s heavyweight para powerlifting event and bringing immense pride to the nation on the global sporting stage.
In a congratulatory message, Hon. Shekwolo described the achievement as a monumental milestone that reflects the resilience, determination, discipline, and exceptional talent of the athlete. He noted that Mr. Sabo’s triumph is not only a personal accomplishment but also a source of immense pride for the people of Kuje Area Council, the Federal Capital Territory, and Nigeria at large.
The Chairman praised the gold medallist for demonstrating that hard work, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to excellence can overcome every obstacle and lead to international success. He added that Mr. Sabo’s outstanding feat has once again showcased the enormous sporting potential that exists within Kuje and serves as an inspiration to young people who aspire to excel in sports and other fields of human endeavour.
Hon. Shekwolo further commended the athlete for proudly flying the flags of Kuje Area Council, the Federal Capital Territory, and Nigeria on the world stage, describing his victory as a testament to the resilience and indomitable spirit of Nigerians.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Kuje Area Council administration to promoting youth empowerment, grassroots sports development, and initiatives that create opportunities for talented young people to realize their full potential.
“As a Council, we are immensely proud of this historic achievement. Your victory has brought honour to Kuje, the FCT, and the entire nation.
