The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improved service delivery following an inspection of ongoing road and drainage projects across the Area Council.
The inspection was undertaken to assess the progress of projects initiated by the previous administration, identify challenges affecting their completion, and determine the necessary steps to ensure that viable projects are completed to the required standards for the benefit of residents.
Accompanied by contractors handling the projects, legislators, members of the council’s cabinet, officials and journalists, the Chairman inspected ongoing works at Dafara, Sauka, Lanto and the Prison Command axis in Kuje, among other locations.
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Shekwolo said his administration was committed to sustaining and completing viable ongoing projects rather than abandoning them, stressing that continuity in governance was essential to achieving sustainable development.
He noted that good road and drainage infrastructure was critical to the socio-economic development of communities, particularly in improving accessibility, reducing the impact of erosion and flooding, facilitating economic activities and enhancing the general living conditions of residents.
The Chairman directed contractors handling the projects to adhere strictly to approved specifications and maintain the required standards while ensuring that work progresses within agreed timelines.
He also charged relevant council officials to strengthen monitoring and supervision of the projects to ensure quality delivery, accountability and value for money.
Hon. Shekwolo further assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritise projects with direct and measurable impact on the people, while exploring additional opportunities to expand infrastructural development across the Area Council.
He appealed to residents to support ongoing government projects by protecting public infrastructure and cooperating with contractors and council officials to ensure the smooth execution and timely completion of the works.
The Executive Chairman reiterated that his administration remained focused on responsive leadership, accountability, continuity and people-oriented development, assuring residents that ongoing projects would continue to receive the necessary attention to facilitate their successful completion.
