Tragic Dispute: Police Arrest Man for Stabbing Colleague to Death Over Car Wash Pricing in Bauchi

BAUCHI, Nigeria — Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested 40-year-old Sallau Inuwa, popularly known as “Liman Katagum,” for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death following an argument over car wash pricing.
The fatal altercation occurred in the early hours of Thursday, October 22, 2026, at a car wash facility within the Bauchi metropolis.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the dispute broke out between Inuwa and the victim, identified simply as Ibrahim, over the fee charged per vehicle washed.

Dispute Turns Fatal as Suspect Flees
The argument quickly escalated into violence, culminating in the suspect allegedly attacking his co-worker with a weapon.
“In the heat of the moment, the suspect allegedly picked a sharp knife and stabbed the victim severally,” SP Habib revealed.

Ibrahim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed him dead despite emergency efforts to save his life.

Following the incident, police operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division launched an immediate investigation. Upon receiving credible intelligence that Inuwa had fled toward his paternal home in Liman Katagum, local operatives coordinated a joint response, apprehending the suspect at Mararraban Liman Katagum.
Police Condemn Resort to Violence
The police command confirmed that Inuwa remains in custody and is undergoing detailed interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, ahead of formal prosecution.
Reacting to the killing, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed deep concern over how a minor financial disagreement led to the tragic loss of a human life.
Extending his condolences to the victim’s family, CP Aliyu appealed to members of the public to manage their tempers and settle disputes through dialogue or lawful administrative channels.
”No matter the level of provocation, taking a life can never be justified,” the Commissioner stressed.
