The 2026 Corporate Stars League Abuja got off to an exciting start on Saturday, October 31, at Monaliza Pitch, Central Business District, Abuja, with four entertaining fixtures producing two victories and two draws on Matchday One.
The opening matches, featuring teams in Groups A and B, delivered competitive encounters, with the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and the Pension Commission (PENCOM) emerging as the day’s biggest winners.
In Group A, NRS recorded an impressive 3–1 victory over defending champions Nörrenberger, handing the reigning champions a disappointing start to their title defence. The result gives NRS an early boost in the competition and sends a strong message to other contenders.
In the group’s other encounter, the National Development Petroleum Corporation (NDPHC) and MTN played out an entertaining 1–1 draw, with both sides sharing the points after an evenly contested encounter.
Group B also witnessed exciting action, as PENCOM secured a comfortable 2–0 victory over Beer Barn, beginning its campaign on a winning note. The result places PENCOM in a strong position as the group battle gathers momentum.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) and Pi-CNG & EV played out a thrilling 2–2 draw in what proved to be one of the most closely contested fixtures of the opening day.
The four matches highlighted the competitive spirit, teamwork and sporting enthusiasm that continue to define the Corporate Stars League, bringing together corporate organisations through football and healthy competition.
With the opening fixtures concluded, attention will now shift to subsequent matchdays as participating teams intensify their campaigns for group dominance and a place in the knockout stages.
The defeat of defending champions Nörrenberger has particularly added an interesting dimension to the competition, raising expectations about how the title race will unfold in the coming weeks.
The Corporate Stars League Abuja 2026 is designed to promote corporate engagement, networking, teamwork and physical fitness through organised football, while providing employees of participating organisations with an opportunity to connect beyond their professional environments.
