Aigbefoh urges FG to grant Bishop Daniels fair, reasonable bail condition

Chief Ebosetale David Aigbefoh Esq, has called on the Federal Government, to grant Bishop Feyi Daniels a fair and reasonable bail condition for fairness and justice on human rights in the country.

Aigbefoh, who made the call in press statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, said Bishop Daniels should be granted fair and reasonable bail conditions that do not infringe on his rights.

According to him, Bishop Feyi Daniels is a prominent religious leader in Nigeria who has been accused and detained by the federal government on political grounds, infringing on his fundamental rights as a citizen of Nigeria.

He also call on the government to respect the rule of law and ensure that all citizens, including Bishop Daniels, are treated fairly and justly under the law.

“Bishop Daniels has been an outspoken critic of the government’s policies and actions, particularly on issues of corruption and human rights abuses. His sermons and public statements have often called for accountability and justice, and he has been a vocal advocate for the marginalized and oppressed in Nigerian society.

“However, his activism has made him a target of the government, which has accused him of Rape . Despite the lack of evidence to support these claims, Bishop Daniels has been detained with stringent bail conditions, trial at snare speed for an extended period, denying him his right to due process and fair treatment under the law.

“The imposition of stringent bail conditions on Bishop Feyi Daniels by the federal government of Nigeria is a further violation of his rights and a clear attempt to prevent him from being released from detention.

“Bail conditions are a standard procedure in legal systems around the world, designed to ensure that the accused person appears in court and does not pose a danger to society. However, the conditions must be reasonable and proportionate to the alleged offense, and they must not be used as a means of punishment or coercion.

“In the case of Bishop Daniels, it appears that the bail conditions imposed by the government are excessive and unreasonable. The conditions may include exorbitant amounts of money, onerous reporting requirements, or restrictions on travel or association that may be difficult or impossible for him to comply with.

“These stringent bail conditions have made it difficult for Bishop Daniels to secure his release from detention, despite the lack of evidence against him and the clear violation of his fundamental rights. The government’s actions are a clear abuse of power and a violation of the principles of justice and fairness.

“As concerned citizens, we must continue to speak out against the government’s actions and demand that Bishop Daniels is granted fair and reasonable bail conditions that do not infringe on his rights. We must also call on the government to respect the rule of law and ensure that all citizens, including Bishop Daniels, are treated fairly and justly under the law,” he said.
