Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has sought collaboration with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) on youth empowerment and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.
Mr Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman, AMAC, said this when he led a delegation of councils’ officials to the Commission Chief Executive, NUPRC, on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said the visit was aimed at discussing issues of partnership and to forge alliance for the good of both organisations and the country at large, being it’s host community.
“We are therefore here to seek areas of collaboration with NUPRC especially in sensitizing our youths against restiveness and vandalism of public property such as those belonging to the NNPC and NUPRC.
“We are therefore constrained to ask your management to always consider AMAC in your Corporate Social Responsibility programmes and also please consider to employ our qualified unemployed youths for employment and sponsorship in your trainings.
“We would appreciate also, of you could find some of our ecological and environmental issues especially, on those that border on climate change.
“I also implore that you consider the sponsorship of skills acquisition and empowerment scheme, especially construction and equipping of existing centers, among others,” he said.
On his part, Mr Gbenga Komolafe, Commission Chief Executive, represented by Dr Aminu Zaria, Head, General Administration, NUPRC, assured of the commission’s committment to partner with the area council.
“I want to assure you that once the opportunity comes, we will give our first community our considerations, since we are hosted and domiciled in AMAC.
“We have taken note of all your requests and especially the skill acquisition and empowerment for youths, we will see what we can do in that regards.
“This is because, once youths are occupied and engaged, they will not think of indulging in social vices and so we assure you of our committment to partner in their regard,” he said.
