Ahead of the 2027 governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River has unveiled its Advisory Council for the State Campaign Council.
Prominent names on the list include President of the Semakemek Support Organization, Archbishop Emmah Gospel Isong, former governor Ben Ayade and Dame Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Also appointed are Etubom Anthony Ani, Nelly Andem Ewa, SAN, and other eminent personalities across the state.
Isong, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Remedy for Victims of Religious Persecution and Discrimination and National Vice President (South-South) of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), was instrumental to the emergence of Prince Bassey Otu as governor in 2023.
Reacting to his appointment which political observers described as strategic, Isong expressed appreciation to the governor and the party.
He thanked Otu and his team “for recognizing Jesus Christ as the Governor of Cross River,” and for looking beyond tribe and political class in constituting the council.
“I did not bargain for the position; it is what I have been doing in different administrations,” Isong disclosed.
He further urged other political parties to emulate Otu by shunning “politics of bitterness, thuggery and nepotism.”
