Dear Sir, I am writing to respectfully urge the leadership to prioritize the safety and dignity of our officers on the field. It is increasingly common to see police officers hanging precariously at the back of patrol vans, an unsafe practice that not only endangers their lives but also undermines the professional image of the Force. Police work is a noble profession, deserving of respect and proper safety measures. Officers should not be exposed to unnecessary risks while performing their duties. I strongly recommend the enactment of new regulations that ensure all officers are seated safely and securely in patrol vehicles. Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, has described the death of veteran singer Onyeka Onwenu, as as the exit of a nightingale and a music icon.Ms Onyeka passed away Tuesday, July 30, in Lagos. The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party on Wednesday described Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s revocation order on building approvals and permits as ill-advised.The Lagos State Chairman of the party, Dele Oladeji, said that the revocation order was an arbitrary authoritarian veto, which should have been approached in a better way. Security agencies in Oyo State on Tuesday embarked on a joint show of force in Ibadan metropolis, ahead of the planned nationwide protest. The security agencies comprised the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Army. The operatives of the FCT police command, Monday arrested one Rahimat Salaum in connection to the killing of her husband. Salaum was arrested at Pegi at about 6pm on Monday July 29, 2024. The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ayodele Sonubi, says the command is ready to provide adequate protection to peaceful and lawful protesters. Mr Sonubi stated this on Monday in Ibadan during a stakeholders’ meeting on the command’s preparedness towards the planned nationwide protest slated for August 1. The Borno police command, on Sunday, said two lives were lost as its men repelled an attack by Boko Haram terrorists at Jakana police barracks in Konduga Local Government Area of the State. The command’s public relations officer, ASP Nahun Daso, who confirmed the incident in a statement released in Maiduguri said that the attack took place in the early hours of Sunday.
