President Bola Tinubu says there will be more reforms in the country’s judiciary. The president said court orders that truncate democracy will no longer be allowed. Tinubu spoke on Monday during his maiden Democracy Day speech as president. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a consignment of 3.20kg skunk concealed in native black soap heading to the United Kingdom. In a statement on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, said the drugs were intercepted at the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos on Wednesday. He said a freight agent involved in the attempt to export the illicit drug was arrested. The police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said it had arrested an alleged informant and logistics supplier to a kidnapping and banditry group terrorising the FCT and its environs. The police public relations officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja. She said the suspect, arrested by the anti-kidnapping unit at the Mongoro Forest, had been on the command’s wanted list. Following his reported arrest after his suspension, the Department of State Services (DSS) has said that Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is not in its custody. Following the announcement of Emefiele’s suspension, there were reports that he was arrested by operatives of the secret police. Reacting in a terse statement posted on Twitter on Saturday morning, the DSS said the suspended CBN governor is “currently” not in detention. “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS,” the tweet reads. The office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) announced Emefiele’s suspension on Friday.
