Hadiza Bala Usman Current Issue on Remittances of the Surpluses of the Nigerian Ports Authority Remittances to the Consolidated Federal Revenue Account

By J.D.EPHRAIM. I like the statement in a Facebook account of what has happened to MS Hadiza Bala Usman on the management of her REMITTANCES of the operating surpluses to the Consolidated Federal Revenue Account. Yes, " BY THE RECORDS" So, let us not be too emotional, either positively, or negatively, about what has happened to Hadiza and her management of the Ports Authority. I am a Lawyer and I am not guided , or controlled by emotions, but by the law and the facts as revealed. Therefore, my compatriots, I refer you to the query directed to her by the Chief of Staff to the Presidency as a result of the memo to the President by her supervising Minister, Rotimi Amaechi of the Ministry of Transportation. Rev. Istifanus Koce, of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Action Area 2 in Kuje, has urged Christians in Nigeria to know the genuine Christ in them for divine fulfilment with God. The cleric gave the advice at a Sunday sermon entitled “Knowing the Christ in You” in Kuje called on Christians to emulate the godly characteristics of Jesus Christ while on earth for eternal life. According to him, knowing the wrong Christ would give Christians a fake hope and the Glory of God would be lost for eternity. He said the genuine Christ allowed himself to be persecuted, mocked, humiliated and crucified on the cross so that the scriptures could be fulfilled to save mankind. While admonishing Christians to know the genuine Christ in them for the hope of Glory, he particularly enjoined t...

THE REALITY OF CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM : A PLEA FOR KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

By Chief J.D.EPHRAIM. I have read, in the Press ,people of certain religions, gleefully announcing the conversion of some Nigerians from one faith to the other. They believe they are bringing people to God. But most often such efforts are either, based on mischief, or ignorance. If it is based on IGNORANCE, then it is forgivable through education . But if it is mischief, then such people are candidates for eternal damnation. But God is merciful, if only such people repent. I can speak for the Christian faith because I understand it more than I understand the islamic faith. Our message as Christians, is that of preaching salvation. Where will the soul be when you die and you reach eternity? I have been enriched by my little knowledge of the glorious Qur'an. In it Muslims have been admon...

Imperative of Science/ICT for Nigeria’s Sustainable Development

By Isaac Oluyi   "We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.” – Carl Sagan It seems my destiny and science and technology are inextricably linked, but for one reason or the other I have always run away from it. The more I run away from it; the more it catches up with me. First, I started out as a science student in secondary school, but my aversion for Physics as a subject pushed me away from it despite sitting for sciences in my West African Senior Secondary School Examination (WASSCE). So, I transited from sciences to the humanities. My second encounter with sciences was as a sophomore in the University. We had been asked to take a course in the Department of Computer Science. We foun...

The symbolism of CAMP NEYA

By Sufuyan Ojeifo Last week, a friend sent to me, via WhatsApp, a video on YouTube entitled: “CAMP NEYA: The home of Dr Orji Uzor Kalu,” showing his expansive and palatial residence in his Igbere village in Abia state. My friend must have decided to share the video with me knowing that I enjoy some friendship with the former governor of Abia state (1999 -2007) and current Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate (where he represents the good people of Abia North Senatorial zone). I was not too eager to watch the video simply because I had a rare privilege of visiting the place in 2004 with the former governor while he was in the leadership saddle.  I was traveling with him to Abriba en-route Igbere to the country home of Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe (retd), who was celebrating his retirement from...
