Alia Approves May 29th Inauguration Ceremony Subcommittees list.

Hyacinth Alia has approved the list of members to serve in the 12 subcommittees constituted by the Transition Committee of the incoming administration in Benue State. The Subcommittees are to plan a worthwhile and evocative inauguration and oath taking ceremony of the Governor-elect come May 29th 2023. The list was jointly signed by Chief Mike Iordye and Dan Ashiekaa, Chairman and Secretary of the Transition Committee respectively. According to a statement signed by the Director of Communications to the Governor-elect, Sir Tersoo Kulas, the various subcommittees also have the mandate to organize activities that shall herald the main event. Organ Trafficking: UK Court Sentences Ekweremadu To 10 Years In Prison

A Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, UK, has sentenced Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president, to nine years and eight months in prison for organ harvesting. His wife, Beatrice, was handed four years and six months jail term during the sentencing on Friday, BBC reports. On March 23, the jury pronounced a guilty verdict on the senator, his wife, Beatrice, and Obinna Obeta, a doctor who acted as the middleman. The jury held that they conspired to bring the 21-year-old at the centre of the matter to London to exploit him for his kidney. The verdict is the first of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 of the UK.

EFCC, ICPC Ask Court To Dismiss Keyamo’s Suit Seeking Atiku’s Probe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has asked the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court to dismiss a suit by the minister of state for labour, Festus Keyamo, seeking the probe and prosecution of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) also urged Justice James Omotosho to dismiss Keyamo’s case. The Spokesperson for NACAT, Mr Iteveh Ekpokpobe, in a news conference in Abuja cited an audit report of the state treasury between 2015 and 2020, accusing Ayade of squandered state resources. The William and Helen Heritage Foundation (WHHF), on Tuesday made a donation of N1.5 million to aid the treatment of five cancer patients in Abuja. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has asked a federal high court in Abuja to dismiss a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against President-elect Bola Tinubu. The PDP and Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the party, had filed an order of mandamus to compel the NDLEA to arrest and prosecute Tinubu over an alleged forfeiture of funds relating to narcotics trafficking in the US.
