NDLEA Urges Court To Dismiss PDP’s Suit, Says Tinubu Was Never Prosecuted In US

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has asked a federal high court in Abuja to dismiss a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against President-elect Bola Tinubu. The PDP and Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the party, had filed an order of mandamus to compel the NDLEA to arrest and prosecute Tinubu over an alleged forfeiture of funds relating to narcotics trafficking in the US. The National Economic Council (NEC), presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, has agreed that the removal of petrol subsidy should be suspended temporarily. NEC, however, said all of the preparatory works should continue in consultation with the states and other key stakeholders, including representatives of the incoming administration. A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Wednesday, struck out an interim order of forfeiture obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, seeking to seize 14 properties allegedly linked to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
