Malawi cholera outbreak largest on continent: WHO official

The World Health Organization (WHO) has described Malawi’s cholera outbreak as the largest in Africa. This came up as the country has so far contributed nearly 40 per cent of total cases recorded in 12 countries across the continent. WHO Regional Health Security Advisor, Ambrose Talisuna said this during his presentation in Lilongwe, Malawi, at a high-level meeting of technocrats from 14 African countries that are affected by, or at risk of being affected by cholera. Lagos Train Accident: Death Toll Now Six, As Victims Need Blood Donors

Six people have been confirmed dead from the accident involving a train and a Lagos state staff bus. The accident took place on Thursday morning between the Shogunle and Ikeja axis when the staff bus veered into the rail track and was crushed by an oncoming train. The current concussion protocol in football is not working, according to global players’ union FIFPRO, which supports calls for a trial on temporary concussion substitutes. 2 travel agents bag 4 years in jail each for visa fraud

Two travel agents, Clement Ekhueorohan, 30, and Courage Chinonso, 38, were on Thursday sentenced to four years imprisonment each by a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for visa fraud. The duo, both residents of Kabala Coastain, Kaduna, were charged with conspiracy, fraud and theft. Court remands 8 friends for allegedly killing 2 cows belonging to a herder

A Makurdi Upper Area Court on Thursday ordered that eight friends be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly killing two cows belonging to a herder. The police charged Faku Aondowase, Timothy Jime, Aondona Butu, Terkura Tyende, Msonter Adugul, Aondona Kaanti, Shianodo Tyowua and Peter Ikyegh with criminal conspiracy and mischief.
