Social Corporate Responsibility, a critical component of corporate governance – PCC

The Public Complaints Commission (PCC) had said that Social Corporate Responsibility (CSR) is a critical component of corporate governance in ensuring the development of the country.  The Commission made this known in Abuja, during a stakeholders workshop to educate the public on their rights and responsibilities regarding CSR compliance in Nigeria.  According to the Commission, some private companies have been found to be non-compliant with CSR obligations, which has resulted in negative impacts on the communities in which they operate.  However, it said the agencies responsible for ensuring compliance with CSR regulations in Nigeria include the CAC, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, NESREA, and PenCom.  "The stakeholders in...

The National Economic Council (NEC), presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, has agreed that the removal of petrol subsidy should be suspended temporarily. NEC, however, said all of the preparatory works should continue in consultation with the states and other key stakeholders, including representatives of the incoming administration. Asset forfeiture: Court Strikes Out EFCC’s Suit Against Yahaya Bello

A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Wednesday, struck out an interim order of forfeiture obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, seeking to seize 14 properties allegedly linked to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
