Cross River: Otu splashes N250m grants on 500 retiree
In partial fulfillment of his earlier pledge to uplift the standard of living of the people above the level he met it on assumption of office, Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Otu, Wednesday, splashed a bulk sum of Two hundred and fifty million naira (N250m) as grant, to 500 retirees at N500,000 each.
Otu made the disbursement through the State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) during the People First Retirees Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (REDI) programme held in Calabar.
Represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, the governor said the gesture remains an expanded reciprocity to empower retirees who have committed their prime years to the service of the State.
