COMPLAINANT REJOICES AS PCC RECOVERS N1.6M

The Public Complaints Commission is committed to ensuring the protection of the individual against administrative injustice and to promote the treatment of members of the public with courtesy, compassion and honesty.

It is in this regard that one Mrs Grace Sabo of anguwan Rafin Zurfi in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State approached the Commission with complaint on 4th of May, 2022 alleging non-payment of death benefits of her late husband CPL. I. Sabo of the Nigerian Police Force who died on 16th June, 2020 while on active service.

Upon receipt of the complaint, the Commission carefully verified all the documents submitted by the complainant and subsequently forwarded a letter with the relevant documents to the Commissioner of Police Bauchi state Command for their comment on the matter.

After series of correspondences and official visits by a team of Investigation Officers from the Commission to the Bauchi state police Command, the Commission received a letter from the Commissioner of Police stating that the next-of-kin of the deceased officer had the cheque of *ONE MILLION SIX HUNDRED AND NINE THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED AND TWENTY -FIVE NAIRA (N1,609,625, 23) as group life insurance and the sum of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA (100,000) as welfare insurance. According to the Respondent, the NPF Pensions is working toward payment of death benefit and the payment will be made as soon as possible.

This success was achieved as a result of of the prompt intervention and the tireless effort of the Commission to see that all complaints received are resolved in good time.

The Complainant thereafter came to the Commission personally to show the cheque of over #1.6 million issued to her and expressed her gratitude for the swift intervention in her case which led to the prompt payment of her late husband’s benefits.
