Secretary to Akure South Local Government in Ondo State, Dr. Gbenga Fasua, has tasked the incoming administration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to kickstart the industrial revolution of the country by setting up an industry in each senatorial district.
He gave the advice in Akure on Sunday during an interactive session with young entrepreneurs in the Contituency 2 of the local council.
The council boss remarked that the grassroots are in dire need of big industries to absorb the increasing population of unemployed youths and also feed chains of businesses.
“For instance in Ondo State, if an agro-allied industry is set up in one senatorial district, a manufacturing industry can be set up in the two other senatorial districts each, to absorb skilled labour and many others.
“Already, the Ondo State Government under Mr. Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has laid such foundation by empowering various professionals across the 18 local government areas, but we still need the federal might to boost the good intention,” Fasua advised.
He said more than any other administration in the state, the Akeredolu government had recorded more road construction works, which has earned him the sobriquet of ‘Mr Road’ and that he has ensured that the roads are evenly spread to make virtually all communities benefit.
“I’m also impressed by the government’s rural electrification works and regular supply of farm inputs , loan and grants to rural farmers, to boost food production and crash high cost of food items in the markets ” he commended.
He similarly applauded the wisdom and tact with which the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been handling the affairs of the state in acting capacity.
Fasua remarked that Aiyedatiwa had proved his mettle as a worthy and loyal representative of Governor Akeredolu, who is currently on vacation.
Fasua, meanwhile, urged winners in the recently conducted national and state assembly elections in the state to keep faith with their pre-election promises and pursue good causes to bring about improvement in the lives of their constituents.
Ahead of next year’s governorship election in Ondo State, he also appealed to political gladiators not to heat up the system through campaigns of calumny or violent acts, noting that “all of us can’t be governor, only one person will emerge.”
