…Charges leaders to uphold unity, transparency and development
The Asian chapter of Cross Riverians in the Diaspora, CRID, has inaugurated a new executive council and Board of Trustees, with a charge to build an environment where members feel valued, respected, heard and adequately represented.
Inaugurating the new officers via Zoom recently, President of CRID Global, Amb. Christopher Lekan, urged the team to remain faithful to the CRID constitution and to promote cooperation, peaceful dialogue and sound governance.
“Your appointment comes with significant responsibility and I trust that you will discharge your duties with integrity, transparency, accountability, inclusiveness and respect for the CRID constitution,” Lekan said.
He warned against actions that could undermine the unity of the organisation.
Chairman of the CRID Asia Board of Trustees, Prof. Wilfred Emori, pledged to build a vibrant and unifying platform that would connect Cross Riverians across Asia.
He said the board would drive collaboration and channel collective expertise toward the sustainable development of Cross River State.
Secretary of CRID Asia, Mrs. Chelsea Ubi, described the inauguration as a “milestone.”
She pledged commitment to unity, service and the welfare of Cross Riverians in Asia and beyond.
In his acceptance speech, the Asia Chapter Coordinator, Bassey Eba, thanked God and CRID Global for the confidence reposed in him.
He promised to serve with dedication, unity and integrity and called on newly elected and appointed officers to work together for meaningful impact.
The new executive council has Bassey Eba as Coordinator, Chelsea Ubi as Secretary and Bright Eta as Director of Welfare.
Others are Dr. Kingsley Ogarakpe, Director of Projects; Mary John Evor, Public Relations Officer; and Dr. Anthony Unor, Director of Finance.
On the BOT, Prof. Emori will serve as Chairman and Dr. Angela Imoke as Secretary. Members include Chief Emmanuel Idagu, Amb. Patrick Ubi and Capt. George Enyiego.
The tenure of the officers runs from August 2026 to July 2029.
