DSS Recovers 18 “Ghana Must Go” Bags containing Cash and Documents During Raid on Emefiele’s Lagos Residence

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly taken 18 Ghana-must-go bags containing money and documents from the Lagos residence of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to the Nigerian Tribune, This occurred following a day-long search of his property, and Emefiele, who has been in custody for eight days since his arrest on June 10, may spend more time in DSS custody as investigations into his activities are far from being concluded.

The DSS obtained a court order on Thursday to detain Emefiele for three weeks. However, another source hinted that he might be held for a longer time.

It appears that Emefiele has been flown to Lagos from DSS custody in Abuja for the search.

The DSS is said to also have launched a manhunt for Emefiele’s personal assistant (names withheld) in connection with the revelations from the ongoing investigation.

“DSS took Emefiele to his house in Lagos on Thursday and returned him to Abuja on Friday afternoon. His house was searched. They took away about 18 big Ghana-must-go bags containing money and documents from the house.

“His personal assistant is on the run. DSS is on a manhunt for him. He is the key to unlock Emefiele’s assets and wealth stashed away within and outside the country,” a source told Nigerian Tribune.
