FCT Minister ‘Temporarily’ Lifts Ban on Green Buses

FEDERAL Capital Territory minister, Senator Bala Mohammed has given instructions that the ban on the use of green green mini-buses within the FCT, Abuja be suspended for three weeks

The order was issued after a meeting with the stakeholders including the officials of the Mini-Buses Union, FCT chapters of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) respectively in addition with the FCT Police Commissioner alongside Director, Department of State Security in his office at Area 11, Garki I District, Abuja on Wednesday.

The Minister then directed the setting up of a Committee to be chaired by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Engr. Anthony Ozodinobi to fine-tune its implementation.

All the stakeholders including the FCT Chapters of the NLC/TUC respectively, the Police, VIO, FRSC, and member of a Civil Society Organization are being represented on the implementation Committee.

Senator Mohammed insisted that there is no going back on the policy as it is for the good of all the residents of the Federal Capital Territory.

He announced that other transportation related policy including but not limited to Carmart, Car Wash and illegal Motor Parks scattered in and around the Federal Capital City already banned will also be enforced.

The minister concluded by lamenting that even the FCT Park-and-Pay policy had faced similar challenges but added that the enforcement of such measures are the only solution to sanitizing  the transportation sector at the Federal Capital Territory.
