FG Commissions Tech Centre, Saysit will Create Jobs

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has said the Technological Incubation Centres (TIC), of the ministry established across

the country will supply the labour for new investments envisaged to come into the country in the nearest future.

Onu disclosed this during the commissioning of the technological incubation centre at the weekend in Lafia, Nasarawa state.

The minister explained that the newly centres will help business/entrepreneur startups, from micro levels to small, medium and eventually to large business enterprises.

He stressed the need for these startups because every major business enterprise started at a micro-level.

The centre he added, is an important institute which the ministry is using to commercialize research findings.

He added “The National Board for Technological Incubation (NBTI), gathers together all research findings from the ministry and all other relevant institutions, with the sole aim of commercializing them”.

Onu, further said that the key essence of the establishment of these Incubation centres was simply to ensure and improve productivity in Nigeria.

He further said that the establishment of the Technological Incubation centre, will help attract investors, which in turn will create more jobs and wealth creation, in line with President Buhari’s vision to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by the next decade.

The maximal use of the Centre, Onu, said will be of immense benefits to the citizens of Nasarawa state ,creating jobs and attracting much needed foreign investments.

Earlier the DG, of the National Board for Technological Incubation, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Jibrin, described the centre as a key government intervention programme to fight unemployment ravaging Nigeria.

Meanwhile the Governor of Nassarawa state Engr. Abdullahi Sule, said the Incubation Centre will go a long way in enhancing the socio-economic well being of the state and self-reliance.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to capacity building of the teeming youths in the state and to position them towards empowerment.
