The Member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Idris Gowon Haruna, has donated 12 solar-powered street lights to Okete Community in Dekina Local Government Area as part of efforts to improve rural electrification and community safety.
The presentation was facilitated in collaboration with Comr. Isah Mahmud, a key political ally and grassroots mobilizer, who has remained committed to attracting developmental projects to the constituency.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Idris Gowon Haruna expressed appreciation to the people of Okete for their unwavering support to his political movement over the years. He commended Comr. Isah Mahmud for his loyalty, steadfastness, and consistent commitment to ensuring that the needs of his people are prioritized.
I want to thank the good people of Okete for your steady support. I also want to specially appreciate Comr. Isah Mahmud for standing firm with me and for always having his community at heart. Leaders like him are the bridge between the people and government,” Hon. Gowon said.
The lawmaker described Okete as a “holy land” that produced great Islamic scholars, particularly the late Sheikh Isah Okete, whom he described as a father, a philanthropist, and a preacher of peace and unity during his lifetime.
“Late Sheikh Isah Okete was a symbol of peace, humility, and generosity. His teachings and legacy remain intact till today, and Okete continues to be blessed because of the foundation he laid. We pray that Allah continues to reward him and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” he added.
Hon. Gowon further commended the peaceful and God-fearing nature of the Okete people and urged them to continue to uphold unity, love, and support for one another.
The 12 solar lights are to be installed at strategic locations across the communtity including major streets, the market square, and areas around the mosque and church.
