Keshi Assures S.Eagles will Give no Excuse Against Ethiopia

THERE will be no excuse from the Super Eagles camp in the forthcoming group match against the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia on Tuesday.

This was according to Eagles’ chief coach, Stephen Keshi in Rustenberg on Monday, who said that neither the technical crew, nor the Nigerian public would take excuses from the players if they fail to qualify for the quarter-finals of the AFCON.

He added that although the team may have been hard done by poor officiating, it should learn to finish games well and with wide margins before such calls are made.

“We should win our matches before bad calls are made so that those who know next to nothing about football will not become our overnight technical advisers,” he said.

Keshi expressed confidence in the ability of his team to do the country proud at the tournament.

“The Super Eagles have a rich tradition in the Nations Cup that must be sustained and improved upon by the present squad.

“The players have learned from their mistakes; they are eager to make a name for themselves and do the country proud,” Keshi added.

Meanwhile, Keshi has denied that there was crisis brewing between him and the NFF.

“Maybe some people just want to create sensation in the media because the team has not started winning games, but the same people will sing our praises when we hit our rhythm,” he added.
