Kuje Area Council Chairman Says Remarks Were Taken Out of Context
The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has clarified recent media reports concerning remarks attributed to him during a meeting with youths and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the reports as a misrepresentation of the context and intent of his comments.
Shekwolo made the clarification on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, while addressing journalists, stakeholders, community leaders and other residents of the Area Council.
According to the Chairman, comments made during the meeting were focused primarily on issues of administrative efficiency, grassroots development, community welfare and the need for effective collaboration in advancing the interests of Kuje Area Council.
He explained that some portions of his remarks were subsequently extracted from their broader context and amplified across news platforms and social media, thereby creating what he described as a distorted impression of his administration’s position and values.
Shekwolo stressed that his administration has never intended to discriminate against, alienate or marginalise any resident of Kuje Area Council, irrespective of political affiliation, ethnicity, religion or social status.
He affirmed that every resident remains entitled to the protection of their fundamental human rights and that the administration would continue to operate within the provisions of the law.
“At no point did I intend to cause disaffection, undermine any group, or promote policies that do not serve the best interests of our citizens.
“Our doors remain open to constructive feedback, dialogue and accurate reporting.”
The Chairman further reiterated his commitment to inclusive, equitable and people-centred governance, noting that the success of the Area Council depends on the collective participation of residents, traditional institutions, community leaders, youths, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
He said his administration would continue to prioritise programmes and policies capable of improving infrastructure, strengthening community development, promoting youth empowerment and enhancing the welfare of residents across the Area Council.
While acknowledging the media as an important pillar of democracy and a critical partner in development, Shekwolo appealed to journalists and media practitioners to maintain professional standards by verifying information and seeking adequate context before publishing reports.
He emphasised that responsible journalism was essential to preventing misinformation, preserving public confidence and promoting peaceful coexistence within communities.
The Chairman also called on residents to disregard interpretations capable of creating unnecessary tension or division, assuring them that his administration remained focused on delivering democratic dividends and improving the quality of life of the people.
He concluded by urging all residents of Kuje Area Council to put aside political and other differences and work collectively with the administration towards sustainable development.
Shekwolo reaffirmed that Kuje Area Council belongs to all its residents, and pledged that his administration would continue to uphold fairness, transparency, accountability and inclusiveness in the discharge of its responsibilities.
