Late Sen. Akwashiki’s father endorses Maku for Nasarawa North bye-election

Mr Akwashiki Awalaro, father of late Sen. Godiya Akwashiki, has endorsed Mr Labaran Maku, Labour Party (LP) Nasarawa North Senatorial candidate for the June 20 bye-election.

This, he said that the endorsement of Maku was based on the instruction of his son, late Godiya Akwashiki to the family to support Maku to replace him at the National Assembly, if he died.

Awalaro stated this when he invited Maku and his campaign team to his ancestral home in Angba-Iggah, Nassarawa Eggon LGA.

The father of late Akwashiki said that the entire family would drum support for Maku to succeed come June 20 bye election.

” My son, late Senator Godiya Akwashiki told me and the entire family that in case he died, we should support Mr Labaran Maku to replace him in the Senate.

” He said that Maku supported him when he contested elections, my son also told us that when he offered money to Maku, Maku rejected the money by asking him to use the money to execute projects in various communities of Nasarawa North.

” My son said that the only way to pay back Maku is for the entire family to support and vote Maku to replace him at the National Assembly if he died, hence the family decision to endorse Maku,” he said

The late Akwashiki’s father also said that Maku is a man of integrity and has unquestionable character and would continue with the good work he son has started.

He blessed, prayed and urged the supporters of his son and other people of Nasarawa North to come out en-mass and vote Maku on June 20 bye-election.

Mr Anza Yunana Akwashiki, Younger brother of Sen. Akwashiki corroborated with their father statement.

He said that their late elder brother, Senator Akwashiki told them that, if he died, they should support Maku to replace him at the National Assembly in order to sustain his good legacy.

He also called on lovers and supporters of late Akwashiki to support and vote Maku for the sustainability of Akwashiki’s legacy.

Responding, Mr Labaran Maku, Labour Party (LP) senatorial candidate for the Nasarawa North bye-election, has promised to complete all projects initiated by late Sen. Godiya Akwashiki, if elected come June 20.

Maku, a former deputy governor of Nasarawa State said that completing the projects initiated by Akwashiki would enable the people to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

He said that the visit to Sen. Akwashiki ancestral home was at the instance of Akwashiki’s father, who sent for him to come and receive the family blessings, prayers and endorsement ahead of June 20 bye-election.

He also promised that he will retain all aides and workers of late Akwashiki, if elected come June 20.

” By God’s grace, I will complete all roads and other projects initiated by our late distinguished Senator Godiya Akwashiki.

” I want to assure you that all of his aides and staff will work with me, if given the mandate.

” I am not going to do anything new, I will start from where he stopped and I will do more, if elected,” Maku said.

The LP Senatorial candidate appreciated Akwashiki’s father and the entire family for endorsing him for the bye election while promising not to fail them and the people of the zone, if elected.

” I want to appreciate the Father and the entire family of our late Senator Godiya Akwashiki for their prayers, support and for endorsing me for the June 20 Nasarawa North bye- election,” he said.

Maku also pledged to establish Late Senator Godiya Akwashiki foundation that will help the poor and train the leaders.

” By God’s grace, if elected I will set up late Sen. Godiya Akwashiki foundation that will train leaders and help the poor, he said.

Maku further pledged quality representation at the National Assembly, if elected.

” I will give jobs and I will empower our youths, women and other people as well as initiate peoples oriented projects.

” I will lobby for federal government projects to our Senatorial district in order to improve on the standard of living of our people,” he said.

It would be reported that Maku and his entourage also visited the palaces of Sangarin Iggah, Alhaji Idris Bala Muhammad, Mr Bala James Averson, the District Head of Iggah- Brumbrum, the District Head of Mada Station, Alhaji Musa Aliyu Jatau to seek for their royal blessings.

The Traditional rulers blessed, prayed and wished Maku success in the election.

It would also be reported that Maku addressed different communities of Mada Station and Iggah- Brumbrum electoral wards among others communities and pledged to provide quality representation and purposeful leadership, if elected.
