NOA DG Urges Nigerians to Deepen Faith, Patriotism During Eid al-Adha Celebration

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on Nigerians to strengthen their faith in God and demonstrate greater patriotism to the nation as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid al-Adha.

Issa-Onilu made the appeal in a goodwill message issued to commemorate the Islamic festival, stressing that the season presents an opportunity for citizens to embrace values that promote national unity, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable development.

According to him, Eid al-Adha serves as an important reminder of the need for Nigerians to remain committed to the principles of mutual respect, tolerance, and collective responsibility in building a stronger and more prosperous nation.

The NOA Director-General noted that the lessons associated with the celebration remain highly relevant to Nigeria’s present circumstances, particularly the virtues of sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and obedience, which he described as critical ingredients for national growth and stability.

He urged Muslims across the country to emulate the devotion and unwavering faith demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim by extending kindness to others, supporting the less privileged, and promoting charitable acts during the festive period.

Issa-Onilu also used the occasion to call for peaceful conduct among citizens, noting that while government continues to intensify efforts to address security challenges across the country, Nigerians have a responsibility to avoid actions capable of undermining public peace and national cohesion.

He encouraged citizens to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and responsible behaviour before, during, and after the celebrations, emphasizing that peace remains a fundamental requirement for development and social progress.

The NOA boss further appealed to community leaders, religious organisations, and youth groups to continue supporting initiatives aimed at promoting national values, civic responsibility, and social harmony.

According to him, meaningful national development can only be achieved when citizens collectively embrace their responsibilities and work together towards the common goal of advancing the country’s interests.

Reaffirming the agency’s mandate, Issa-Onilu said the NOA would continue to sustain public enlightenment and sensitisation campaigns designed to foster patriotism, national unity, and active citizen participation in governance and nation-building.

He expressed optimism that the spirit of sacrifice, togetherness, and compassion that defines Eid al-Adha would inspire Nigerians to strengthen bonds of unity and contribute positively to the country’s development.

The NOA Director-General also wished Muslims a peaceful, joyful, and rewarding Eid al-Adha celebration, expressing hope that the values embodied by the festival would encourage citizens to work collectively towards a more united, secure, and prosperous Nigeria.
