VP Shettima Decorates Acting Inspector General of Police

Kayode Egbetokun was decorated with his new rank of inspector-general of police (IGP) by Vice President Kashim Shettima in a brief ceremony at the presidential villa on Tuesday.

The ceremony was witnessed by top government officials including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, who also serves as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and outgoing Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba.

President Bola Tinubu had appointed Egbetokun to succeed Alkali Usman who was removed along with all service chiefs of the country.

Following the decoration ceremony, former IG of police Alkali Usman shared his thoughts on passing the baton to his successor.

The ceremony was also witnessed by the wife of the new Acting Inspector-General of Police.
