The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, says intervention and constituency projects are critical tools for bridging the gap between government and citizens across the country.
Tinubu said this on Tuesday in Abuja during the unveiling of a compendium titled,
“Actualising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Through the Implementation of Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects.”
The event was organised by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs to showcase intervention projects and strengthen transparency, accountability and public awareness of government development programmes.
She was represented by the Wife of the Vice-President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, who described the occasion as a milestone in promoting accountability, effective service delivery and responsible project implementation.
Tinubu said the projects remained tangible expressions of democratic governance and inclusive development, ensuring that government interventions responded effectively to the needs and aspirations of communities nationwide.
“Intervention projects play a vital role in bringing development closer to the people by addressing local challenges and improving access to essential services nationwide.
“Intervention projects are vital in bridging the gap between government and the people.
They ensure that development is visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of our communities,” she said.
She recalled her years of service in the 7th, 8th and 9th National Assemblies, saying the experience enabled her to support legislation and constituency interventions that positively impacted citizens.
She said her experience as a former senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District strengthened her conviction that constituency-based initiatives remained effective instruments for addressing local needs and improving livelihoods.
“My experience in the legislature further reinforces my belief in the importance of constituency-based development initiatives that are properly aligned with the needs of the people,” she said.
The First Lady said the 560-page publication, written in nine chapters, was the first comprehensive public report documenting intervention projects implemented across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones and constituencies.
She said the compendium would enhance transparency and accountability, provide a verifiable reference document and increase public awareness of projects executed under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The compendium being unveiled today is a reflection of policy implementation, institutional collaboration and the Renewed Hope Agenda. It captures ongoing efforts to translate vision into measurable outcomes,” she said.
Tinubu commended the ministry for documenting, consolidating and presenting intervention projects being implemented in communities across the country, describing the initiative as timely and commendable.
According to her, the publication would serve as a valuable reference point for tracking project impact, strengthening oversight mechanisms and promoting good governance in public service delivery.
The First Lady also applauded the ministry for deploying a digital application to track, monitor and evaluate intervention and constituency projects in real time across the country.
“I applaud the ministry for its innovative approach in deploying an application that tracks, monitors and evaluates intervention and constituency projects in real time,” she said.
Tinubu urged legislators, development partners and implementing agencies to strengthen collaboration, ensure due diligence and uphold transparency and accountability in project execution.
She expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute to improved service delivery, sustainable national development and the successful implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Earlier, the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo, said the ministry had deployed modern technology to enhance monitoring and evaluation of projects across zones and constituencies.
Jisalo said the initiative was designed to ensure effective implementation of intervention projects and support the achievement of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the compendium reflected the ministry’s commitment to accountability, transparency and evidence-based reporting on intervention projects executed across the country.
The unveiling ceremony attracted stakeholders from government institutions, development organisations and other relevant sectors committed to advancing national development and good governance.
