The AgricWorld Newspaper/Magazine has honoured the Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali, with its 2026 Best Performing Local Government Chairman on Agriculture and Rural Development Merit Award.
The prestigious award was presented on Wednesday, August 10, 2026, at the Chairman’s Office in Kwali by the Country Representative of the Management and Board of Trustees of AgricWorld International Magazine, Amb. Dr. Godwin Thomas Nyitse, who is also the Executive Editor and Consultant of the organisation.
According to the organisation, the award was in recognition of the chairman’s performance and commitment to agriculture and rural development barely two months after assuming office as the Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council.
AgricWorld, described as a leading Nigerian agricultural and rural development newspaper, magazine and television platform, said Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali was selected for the honour from among local government chairmen across the country in recognition of his demonstrated interest in agricultural development and his vision for improving the livelihoods of rural communities.
Presenting the award, Dr. Nyitse commended the chairman’s approach to agriculture and rural development, describing his commitment to the sector as outstanding.
He said sustainable development could not be achieved without giving agriculture a central role in governance, noting that agriculture should be viewed not merely as an economic sector but as a foundation for food security, employment generation and rural prosperity.
“Good governance begins when agriculture is treated not merely as a sector, but as a foundation of food security, employment and rural prosperity,” Dr. Nyitse said.
He further expressed optimism that the chairman’s agricultural initiatives would contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Kwali Area Council.
Agriculture as Engine of Rural Industrialisation
Speaking after receiving the award, Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali said his administration was determined to make agriculture a major driver of economic growth and rural development in the area council.
The chairman said agriculture had the potential to become the engine room of rural industrialisation if government successfully connected agricultural production with processing and markets.
“Agriculture can become the engine room of rural industrialisation when government at all levels connects production with processing and markets,” he said.
He disclosed that his administration would distribute agricultural inputs and other essential farm materials, including fertilisers, chemicals and sprayers, as part of activities marking his 100 days in office.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at supporting farmers, increasing agricultural productivity and strengthening food security across communities in Kwali Area Council.
Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali stressed that his administration would continue to pursue policies and programmes capable of creating opportunities for farmers and improving the economic wellbeing of residents.
Chairman Appreciates Recognition
The chairman expressed appreciation to the management and Board of Trustees of AgricWorld for recognising what he described as the modest efforts of his administration within its short period in office.
He said the recognition would further encourage him and his team to remain focused on delivering people-oriented programmes and development projects with direct impact on the lives of the people.
Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali said the award would serve as an additional motivation for his administration to intensify its efforts in agriculture, rural development and other sectors critical to the wellbeing of the people.
He dedicated the award to Almighty God, his wife and family members, the entire staff of Kwali Area Council, elected councillors, his media team, and the people of Kwali Area Council, whom he credited for entrusting him with their mandate.
The chairman called on the people of Kwali Area Council to continue supporting his administration and to maintain peace, unity and cooperation, assuring them that better days lay ahead.
The award ceremony also featured the presentation of a gold medal, a complimentary copy of AgricWorld Magazine and books on leadership, among other materials.
The recognition comes as the Kwali Area Council administration intensifies its focus on agriculture and rural development as key components of its development agenda.
