Prominent Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Matthew Burkaa, SAN, has endorsed Hon. Jonathan Ipaa, of the Labour Party and Hon. Francis Akie, of the Zenith Labour Party for the 2027 Nasarawa State House of Assembly election.
Burkaa made the endorsement in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the two aspirants to his law office.
The legal icon described both candidates as credible and people-oriented leaders with the capacity to deliver quality representation. He expressed confidence in their integrity and commitment to public service, and urged voters in Obi 1 and Keana constituencies to rally behind them.
According to him, Nasarawa State requires lawmakers who understand grassroots needs and are committed to good governance, accountability and effective lawmaking.
The endorsement brings together two candidates contesting on different platforms but with a shared focus on people-centered leadership.
Hon. Ipaa is the Labour Party candidate for Obi 1 State Constituency. He is an Abuja-based journalist with extensive experience in communication strategy, political mobilization and public engagement. He previously contested the Obi 1 seat in 2011 and polled over 22,000 votes.
Hon. Akie is the Zenith Labour Party candidate for Keana State Constituency. A retired Access Bank manager and financial expert, he is anchoring his campaign on attracting development, economic empowerment and government attention to Keana LGA.
Both candidates expressed appreciation for the endorsement and pledged to provide purposeful representation that would bring development and dignity to their communities. They also committed to working with stakeholders to ensure peaceful and credible elections.
Burkaa further called on political stakeholders in the two constituencies to support a free, fair and peaceful electoral process.
With political activities intensifying, the backing of the respected SAN is expected to strengthen the campaigns of Ipaa and Akie ahead of the NSHA polls.
