CRHIS: Otu’s wife enrolls 500 vulnerable elders

Determined to leverage the welfare of the elderly, Wife of the Cross River governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has offered sponsorship through the enrollment of 500 senior citizens aged 70 and above, into the State Health Insurance Scheme (CRSHIS), covering their premiums for the next two years. The intervention, which targets vulnerable elders across the 18 local government areas of the state, was confirmed by the Director General of Cross River Health Insurance Agency, Chief Godwin Iyala, during a telephone interview. CRHA recommends styrofoam, foil paper ban

In view of its potential health risks, Cross River House of Assembly has proposed a ban on the use of Styrofoam and foil paper for packaging food in the state. The Lawmakers who expressed concerns over the potential health risks associated with using foil materials especially when exposed to high temperatures, called on the state government to mandate the Environmental Task Force Agency to enforce the ban.
