Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers state, has invited the Martin Amaewhule-led house of assembly members to a meeting. The Amaewhule faction of the assembly is loyal to Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers state. The sit-down is scheduled for Monday at the government house in Port Harcourt, the state capital. The invitation is contained in a letter dated March 7, 2025, and issued by the office of the secretary to the state government. The senate committee on public conduct, ethics, privileges, and public petitions has recommended the suspension of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, lawmaker representing Kogi central, for six months. Speaking at the plenary on Thursday, Neda Imaseun, chairman of the committee, said the panel’s report followed an investigation that found her in “total” violation of senate rules. Gunmen on Wednesday opened fire on a peaceful gathering of youths believed to be supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Elele, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers.
