The President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Kabi, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, to congratulate him on his inauguration and reaffirm the union’s commitment to promoting industrial harmony through constructive engagement, dialogue, and strategic partnership.

Leading a delegation of union executives, Comrade Kabi assured the Chairman of NULGE’s readiness to work closely with his administration to sustain a strike-free environment across the six Area Councils of the FCT. He noted that continuous dialogue and mutual understanding between management and organised labour remain essential for effective governance and improved service delivery.

The NULGE President congratulated Hon. Shekwolo on his assumption of office and appealed to the new administration to accord priority attention to staff welfare, continuous capacity building, prompt consideration of workers’ concerns, and sustained support for union programmes and activities. He also urged the Chairman to maintain an open-door policy that encourages regular consultation and effective communication with workers and their representatives.

According to him, the workforce is the engine room of every successful administration, stressing that investment in the welfare and development of employees would enhance productivity, boost staff morale, and promote efficient service delivery.

Comrade Kabi further appealed to the Executive Chairman to support the union in securing a parcel of land within the Federal Capital Territory—preferably in Kuje Area Council—for the construction of the FCT NULGE State Secretariat. He also requested the provision of a union bus to facilitate the movement of union officials and improve coordination of official activities across the FCT.

As a mark of goodwill and solidarity, the NULGE President presented the Executive Chairman with a customised table name tag and decorated him with a NULGE face cap, symbolising the union’s commitment to building a cordial and productive relationship with his administration.

Responding, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, expressed appreciation to the NULGE President and his delegation for the visit and congratulatory message. He described the visit as a demonstration of the union’s commitment to industrial peace and collaborative governance.

The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of workers, noting that a motivated workforce remains indispensable to the successful implementation of government policies and programmes.

Describing himself as a “comrade,” Hon. Shekwolo stated that he fully understands the importance of organised labour and would never undermine the role of the union. He assured the delegation that his administration would maintain a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with NULGE in the interest of both workers and the people of Kuje Area Council.

On the union’s requests, the Chairman disclosed that the proposal for the allocation of land for the construction of the FCT NULGE State Secretariat, as well as the request for a union bus, would be discussed with his fellow Area Council Chairmen to ensure appropriate action is taken as quickly as possible.

He further pledged to give staff welfare the priority it deserves, assuring workers of an administration anchored on fairness, inclusiveness, accountability, and open communication.

The visit ended on a cordial note, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to industrial harmony, mutual respect, continuous dialogue, and a strong partnership aimed at improving staff welfare, enhancing service delivery, and accelerating the socio-economic development of Kuje Area Council.
