Gombe Emir’s Cup 2026 Kicks Off June 13 as Organisers Finalise Plans

The Organising Committee of the Gombe Emir’s Cup 2026 says all arrangements have been concluded for the successful staging of the tournament.

The grassroots football championship will kick off with a colourful opening ceremony at Pantami Stadium, Gombe, on June 13 at 3 p.m.

The annual competition promotes unity, youth development, and sporting excellence across Gombe State through football and community engagement.

The tournament features teams representing Emirates and Chiefdoms across the state, fostering peaceful coexistence and strengthening inter-community relationships.

Organisers said the competition remains a key platform for talent discovery and youth empowerment through grassroots football development.

The tournament is sponsored by former Chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe.

According to organisers, the sponsorship aims to strengthen relationships among football stakeholders and advance grassroots sports development in the state.

Traditional rulers, government officials, football administrators, participating teams and sports enthusiasts are expected at the opening ceremony.

The tournament is organised by GWG Sports Centre Limited under the leadership of Gara Gombe.

Organisers said his commitment to youth empowerment and sports development has created opportunities for emerging football talents.

They expressed confidence that the 2026 edition would further consolidate the competition’s status in Northern Nigeria.

They urged football lovers, community leaders, and stakeholders to support the tournament for social cohesion, community engagement, and football development. (NAN)
