New Olugbesan Family Head, Mogaji Jubril Olugbesan, Promises Transparent Asset Management

Alhaji Jubril Olumide Labisi Olugbesan, the newly appointed Mogaji of the Olugbesan family of Oke-Agbeni in the Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, has visited the family compound and pledged to run an inclusive administration that will restore the family’s pride among other households in Ibadan.

The visit followed a family resolution dated May 13, 2026, addressed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), which removed Hazeem Gbolarunmi from the position of Mogaji.

The family stated that Gbolarunmi “is not a legitimate member of the Olugbesan family” and alleged he was imposed on them in 2008 by the late political figure Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.

In the resolution, the family accused Gbolarunmi of misconduct, including converting family properties to personal use, sowing division among members, and secretly selling ancestral land in the Ido Local Government Area.

The document also alleged that he received millions of naira into his personal account from Mich Royal Company Nigeria Limited after misrepresenting facts about the firm.

It warned that “any person or entity that transacts business with him regarding the said land does so at their own peril and risk.”

”Consequently, the family directed Gbolarunmi to hand over all family documents, properties, regalia, staff of office, and other symbols of authority on or before June 1, 2026.

According to the resolution, the decision reflects the collective will of the members and invokes customary rights under Yoruba chieftaincy practices, urging stakeholders and authorities to uphold the move to restore peace and unity.

During his visit to the Oke-Agbeni compound, Mogaji Labisi Olugbesan — a retired director of audit with the Lagos State Office of Internal Audit and a long-standing member of the Olugbesan family — promised an all-inclusive leadership.

He stated that his administration would prioritize unity, transparent stewardship of family assets, and rebuilding a reputation that will make the family proud among its peers in Ibadan.

Those who accompanied the new Mogaji included Alhaji Saka Jimoh Olugbesan, Alhaji Lookman Durosomo Olugbesan, Alhaji Gani Esan Olugbesan, Mr. Olatunbosun Durosomo Olugbesan, Mr. Akibu Labisi Olugbesan, Chief Taofeek Olugbesan, Mrs. Monsurat Durosomo Olugbesan, Mr. Kehinde Durosomo Olugbesan, Mr. Abass Durosomo Olugbesan, and Mr. Rasaq Durosomo Olugbesan.
