Massive arms cache uncovered in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, on Tuesday announced the discovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition from criminal hideouts.Ododo said the discovery was as a result of a decisive joint security operation in the state.He listed weapons recovered to include 24 AK-47 rifles, 23 pump-action rifles, one Tavor rifle, one FN rifle, four Barrett pistols, four Browning rifles, 42 magazines, 520 rounds of GPMG 7.62 ammunition, and substantial quantities of AK-47 ammunition and cartridges for pump-action and Barrett pistols. Gombe Records 54 Snakebite Deaths In 2025- Official

The Gombe State recorded no fewer than 54 deaths from snakebites in 2025, the State Epidemiologist, Dr Nuhu Bile, revealed on Tuesday.Bile stated this in Gombe during the State Public Health Emergency Management Committee meeting in the state. The meeting, supported by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, was chaired by the State Deputy Governor, Mr Manassah Jatau, who is the Chairman of the PHEMC in the state. A baseline survey by FOCEI in Liji and Zambuk communities, all in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, has indicated that there is poor knowledge, attitude and practices on issues relating to the GBV.
