Muslim Media Watch Group Condemns Islamic Scholars’ Social‑Media Feuds
The Oyo State chapter of the Muslim Media Watch Group (MMWG) has denounced the misuse of social‑media platforms by some Islamic scholars, describing the practice as “preposterous, condemnable, unacceptable and a betrayal of public trust.”
In a press release signed by State Coordinator Alhaj Mas’ud Akintola and Secretary Ustadh Abdullah Adewumi, the group said the scholars often resort to public insults and “washing their dirty linen in public” when faced with criticism.
The Group noted that the Scholars seem to be shrouded in the mirage of their popularity to wash their dirty linen in the public when confronted with unfavourable situations instead of remembering the Quranic injuction which states that "believers are brothers to one another,therefore make peace among yourselves "...
